Objective of Trust

The Trust shall, irrespective of considerations of sex, caste, creed, religion or race, apply its funds or such portion(s) of the Income thereof of the Trust in its absolute discretion as it think fit and proper, for any one or more of the following objects and activities in India:

 

  • The Trust shall have its primary focus to promote National Integration, Communal Harmony, Universal Brotherhood and Global Peace through development of performing arts and various other cultural activities by organizing events, instituting awards, scholarships and creating opportunities to the artistes to showcase their talent and for that purpose.

  • Organize various international cultural and youth projects and events in India.

  • Initiate various focused funding and development programmes Implemented by the Trust to support a broad range of cultural activities nationally.

  • Offer grants to pusue undergraduate studies in the performing arts and the annual Ekata Awards recognizes and celebrates excellence in Kerala arts, cultural and creativity.

  • Share information, knowledge and research with stakeholders of the “creative economy” with a view to develop, enable and inspire the sector.

  • Promotion of intercultural, inter-religious and inter-civilization dialogue, conflict resolution and establishment of a “Culture of Peace” in the world.

  • Consolidation of the potential of representatives of different cultures for the solution of global challenges.

  • Research of cultural peculiarities of different ethnic and cultural groups as well as comparative inter-cultural research and presentation of results to a wide audience.

  • Research and training courses on intercultural learning on national, regional and international level

  • Development of a database on cultures of the State of Kerala and that of India in general, (ethnic music, films, photo archive etc.).

  • Develops administration and management skills of practitioners, which in turn increases the capacity and sustainability of arts organizations and institutions.

  • The Trust shall endeavor to conduct music concerts, events, symposiums and conferences in India to support artists and to promote Indian Culture, to institute various Awards in the nature of “EKATA PRAVASI BHARATHI PURASKARAM” to support veterans in various fields of activities.

  • The Trust shall also engage in providing medical aid, relief of sickness and the preservation of health to the poor, the methods of which are as given below:

  • To assist in the treatment and care of persons suffering from mental or physical illness of any description or in need of rehabilitation as a result of such illness, by the provision of facilities for work and recreation.

  • To promote and protect the physical and mental health of sufferers of heart diseases, Cancer, Kidney ailments, in undergoing surgical treatments, through the provision of financial assistance, support, education and practical advice.

  • To advance the education of the general public in all areas relating to donation of blood and organs

  • To relieve sickness, poor health and old age amongst people in India by providing a local broadcasting service for hospitals, residential homes and similar institutions.

  • To relieve sickness and to preserve the health of the cancer patients by providing or assisting in the provision of equipment, facilities and ancillary to those provided by the doctors.

  • To preserve and protect the health of patients of cardiac diseases by providing or assisting in the provision of facilities, support services and equipment.

  • To advance the education of the public in health care by the provision of lectures, for and by the publication of newsletters devoted to healthcare.

  • To promote sustainable development for the benefit of the public through:

  • The preservation, conservation and the protection of the environment and prudent use of resources.

  • The relief of poverty and the improvement of the conditions of life in socially and economically disadvantaged communities.

  • The promotion of sustainable means of achieving economic growth and regeneration.

  • To advance the education of the public in subjects relating to sustainable development and the protection, enhancement and rehabilitation of the environment and to promote study and research in such subjects provided that the useful results of such study are disseminated to the public at large.

  • Explanation: It is hereby understood that “Sustainable Development” means “development which meets the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs.”

  • To develop the capacity and skills of the members of the socially and economically disadvantaged community of Thiruvananthapuram in particular in such a way that they are better able to identify, and help meet, their needs and to participate more fully in society.

  • The promotion for the benefit of the public of urban or rural regeneration in areas of social and economic deprivation in the State of Kerala in general and Thiruvananthapuram District in particular by all or any of the following means:

  • The relief of financial hardship;

  • The relief of unemployment;

  • The advancement of education, training or retraining, particularly among unemployed people, and providing unemployed people with work experience;

  • The provision of financial assistance, technical assistance or business advice or consultancy in order to provide training and employment opportunities for unemployed people in cases of financial or other charitable need through help in setting up their own business, or to existing businesses;

  • The creation of training and employment opportunities by the provision of workspace, buildings, and/or land for use on favourable terms;

  • The provision of housing for those who are in conditions of need and the improvement of housing in the public sector or in charitable ownership provided that such power shall not extend to relieving any local authorities or other bodies of a statutory duty to provide or improve housing;

  • The maintenance, improvement or provision of public amenities;

  • The preservation of buildings or sites of historic or architectural importance;

  • The provision of recreational facilities for the public at large or those who by reason of their youth, age, infirmity or disablement, financial hardship or social and economic circumstances, have need of such facilities;

  • The protection or conservation of the environment;

  • The provision of public health facilities and childcare;

  • The promotion of public safety and prevention of crime;

  • Such other means as may from time to time be determined subject to the prior written consent of the Board of Trustees of this Trust.

  • To provide relief of financial need and suffering among victims of natural or other kinds of disaster in the form of money or other means deemed suitable for persons, bodies, organisations affected, including the provision of medical aid and to provide relief and assistance of people in any part of the world who are the victims of war or natural disaster, trouble, or catastrophe in particular by the supply of medical aid to such persons.

  • To establish, erect, equip and maintain or contribute towards establishments, erection of equipment and maintain bal-mandirs, old age homes, libraries, free reading rooms, dispensaries, medical clinics, orphanages, home for widows, destitute or other unattached woman, Vikas Grahas and charitable institutions for the relief of poor, education, medical relief and advancement of other objects of general public utility not involving the carrying on of any activity of profit.

  • To institute Endowments to hospitals, infirmaries, maternity homes, orphanages, sanatoriums, boarding houses, hostels and charitable dispensaries.

  • To provide scholarships and fellowships to be awarded to poor/or deserving students and scholars studying in schools, colleges, universities and other educational institutions in India or abroad and who cannot afford and have no means to prosecute the same.

  • To advance the education of the public in general and for that purpose establish educational institutions including Colleges, Schools, Technical Education Centers, Coaching Centers, Academies, Research Institutions, and conduct Training Programmes, Short Term Courses, Awareness Programmes, Seminars and Workshops.

  • Setting up or helping by endowments orphanages or poor houses for the benefits of orphans and poor persons and awarding of scholarships and cash payments to poor persons and widows desirous of receiving a primary, secondary and/or higher education and/or research in any branch or branches of science in its widest sense.

  • To render financial help to needy and deserving persons to enable them to make low-cost houses.

  • To give financial help to needy widows and orphans for the purpose of their maintenance, medical treatment and education specially in arts and crafts so as to enable them to earn their livelihood.

  • To print, publish and sell special literature, journals, magazines and such other publications connected with the objects of the Trust.

  • To set up and maintain libraries and information services to facilitate all kinds of research and studies.

  • To open and close branches and carry on any charitable activities and projects of the Trust in any part of India, as decided by the Board of Trustees from time to time.

  • To acquire and take-over by purchase, lease or mortgage or otherwise, immovable property or other properties as and when deemed necessary to carry out the objects of the Trust.

  • To secure funds and raise money with or without interest for attaining or for the promotion of any of the objects of the Trust by way of membership fees, subscription, donations, grants, etc.

  • To employ staff, workers, and other personnel as may be required for the work of the Trust, and to terminate them as and when found necessary.
